The research on implicit learning has continuously been popular since it was found byReber. As an important paradigm of implicit learning, sequence learning has gotten more andmore attention of researchers. With the development of researching, we have known a lot ofimplicit sequence learning, but the arguments still exist in some areas. Especially, there arelots of different ideas about the representation of implicit sequence learning. The present study investigated implicit sequence learning and its representations byseiral reaction time task. The subjects are from teenagers (12-14years old) in junior middleschool and adults (20-26years old)in college. The three experiments research the implicitsequence learning and the representation of it. At the same time, they investigate the effect ofage and material to implicit sequence learning and representation, which takes a meaningfultry to the arguments of the theory of implicit sequence learning, meanwhile, understandingand using the implicit learning better. The current study gets the conclusions:1.Implicit sequence learning is produced in both the teenagers and adults, and there is nosignificant difference of the implicit learning scores in different age categoires. Although theRTs of teenagers are longer than adults’, there is no significant difference of them. The agedoesn’t affect the implicit sequence learning.2.Stimulus-response (S-R) rules are cirtical for implicit sequence learning, implicitsequence learning can exist when the stimulus-response (S-R) representation present. Theimplicit sequence learning depends on the correlation of stimulus and response. The subjectslearn the relationship between stimulation and response, they can’t have the implicit sequencelearning when there is only one sequence. The representation has no difference betweendifferent ages.3.The implicit sequence learning representation of meaningful material isstimulus-response (S-R) rules. The representation of the material’s meaning is the same as theone of mateiral’s position. The representation of implicit sequence learning has no correlation with the property of the mateiral itself.
