In recent years, the rapid development of economy in China makes rapid changes in people’s lives. With the improvement of living standards, people’s demand in spiritual and cultural life is also growing rapidly, which has led a number of thriving cultural industries. Art performance culture is one of those industries. Nowadays, art performance is very common. There are various art performance activities in different scales and of different types in cities. There have been a number of people who earn a living on it:actors, brokers and so on.Art performance in major cities like Beijing, and Shanghai has grown quite mature, and the system is well-developed as well. However, the small and medium-sized cities in China, it is relatively underdeveloped with limited development time. The contemporary development status is worth researching. This article in line with true and objective manner, observes art performance in medium-sized cities. This paper evaluates and makes judgments about the existing status and overall art performance industry, by using statistical data in various populations according to the one year study of them.There are three categories of art performance in medium-sized cities-enterprise or institution shows, commercial shows, wedding shows, each of which has its own characteristics and rules, reflecting the art in medium-sized cities, representing the city in art and culture. It is worth an in-depth study. Enterprise or institution shows are to enhance internal or external public relations. Commercial shows are intended to be a commercial product advertisement funded by the companies organizing performances. Wedding shows are a unique performance category, which is the latest and fastest-developing among the three. The similarity of the three is that they do not recover the cost by selling tickets.By investigating the art performance of medium-sized cities, it has its own features such as lack of large-scale parties and fine art parties, low cost, no tickets selling. To sum up, there are no regulated rules and laws in the art performance of these cities. And the division of the agencies are not accurate. Relationship between actors and agents are lack of legal protection. When there is no appropriate legal basis, it tends to cause the loss of non-fault part in dispute.Last chapter of the article is to summarize the problems in the performance, and make constructive suggestions.
