| Uterine fibroids or leiomyomas are the most common benign tumors of reproductive system in reproductive age women. Symptoms included the increased and prolonged menstruation, cycle changes, dysmenorrhea, menstrual blood with blood clots, abdominal discomfort, back soreness, and secondary anemia. This disease has serious impact on health and quality of life of women.High intensity focused ultrasound(HIFU) is a novel tumor therapeutic technique with the advantages of noninvasive, safe and effective, short recovery time. This technique has been widely used to treat different types of solid tumors. Howerver, in clinical practice, this treatment is still new and the proportion of patients that received HIFU treatment is still low in comparing with the number of patients with uterine fibroids. Therefore, it is import to investigate the factors that affect the clinical application of HIFU.To investigate the factors that affect the clinical application of HIFU for uterine fibroids. Objective:Method: From February 2015 to September 2015, one thousand and two hundred eleven patients with uterine fibroids in Suining Central Hospital, Sichuan were analyzed by multiple factor logistic regression analysis.Results: Three hundred and ninety nine patients received HIFU treatment, the treatment rate was 35.59%(399/1121). The results of logistic regression analysis showed that six factors included doctor’s recommendation, doctor’s standardized introduction of HIFU, understanding of various treatment modalities, financial status, type of insurance(different reimbursement rate of insurance), symptoms were related to the final decision that patients made.Conclusion: Doctor’s recommendation, doctor’s standardized introduction of HIFU, understanding of various treatment modalities, financial status, type of insurance(different reimbursement rate of insurance), symptoms are the key factors that affecting clinical application of HIFU. |
