The Effect Of Small Dose ACTH In The Treatment Of Infant Spasms

Objective: To compare the effect after treatment of small dose and short course ACTH in infant spasms, and analyze the influence factors of the effect.Methods: Totally 10 cases were enrolled in the study,which all were chosen from the infant spasms in the children affiliated hospital of Chongqing medical university,and the year range from 2012 to 2016.2.According to the clinical manifestations,EEG and brain imaging, the spasms remission rate after 4 weeks,were observed with retrospective studies.Results: A total of 10 cases of infant spasm,4 male,6 female,the age of onset range from 2.8-15 months.Among it, less than 6 months accounted for 6 case, more than 6 months accounted for 4case.The lead time which is less than 2 months accounted for 7 case, more than 2 months accounted for 3case. 1case have a family history of febrile convulsion,the rest do not have epilepsy family history.Symptoms accounted for 80%, cryptogenic accounted for 20%.After 4 weeks of ACTH treatment, among 10 diagnosed infantile spasms, 5 cases(50%) were remission of spasms, 1cases free of spasms.One who failed to respond to ACTH going on the ketogenic diet.Conclusion: Results show that small dose ACTH, short course(4 weeks) treatment of ACTH is effective to some patients,but the change of EGG is not obviously.After that choose ketogenic diet may control the seizures.
