Expression And Significance Of IL-22, IL-22BP In Patients With Breast Cancer

Objective To investigate the expression of IL-22 and IL-22 BP in patients with breast tumor and to analyze the relationship between them and pathological characteristics. Methods 95 patients with breast cancer, 20 patients with breast benign tumor were included. The concentrations of IL-22, IL-22 BP in serum were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). Their expression in breast cancer tissues and non-cancerous adjacent breast tissues were examined by using immunohistochemical method.Statistical analysis of the relevance of IL-22, IL-22 BP and clinicopathological variables was performed. Results The level of IL-22 in peripheral blood of patients with breast cancer was(64.5±22.1)pg/ml,significantly higher than those of benign tumor(23.7±11.4)pg/ml(P<0.01).The level of IL-22 BP in peripheral blood of patients with breast cancer was 260.6±70.9 pg/ml,significantly lower than those of benign tumor(472.1±156.3)pg/ml(P<0.01).The expression rates of IL-22 were 71.57% in breast cancer tissues and 24.21% in non-cancerous adjacent breast tissues(P < 0.001). The expression rates of IL-22 BP were 27.37% in breast cancer tissues and 74.74% in non-cancerous adjacent breast tissues(P < 0.001). The expression of IL-22 and IL-22 BP has significantly positive correlation with patients histological grade, axillary lymph nodes metastasis, larger tumor size, tumor stage, Ki-67≥14% and Her-2 positive status(P<0.01 or(P<0.05),but not with age at diagnosis, menopausal status, ER status and PR status. Conclusion The level of IL-22 in patients with breast cancer was significantly up regulated which promots its pathogenesis and development, the antagonist of IL-22 which is IL-22 BP suppressed this function.
