Lactic acid bacteria mainly rely on themselves and its secretion-bile salt hydrolase enzymes to reduce cholesterol. The main active ingredients of cholesterol-lowering in Chinese materia medica are proteins, unsaturated fattyacids, saponins, flavonoids, phenolics, alkaloids, polysaccharides and anthraquinones, volatile oils and fatty oils, phytosterols and phytosterol esters. The cholesterol-lowering function of lactic acid bacteria was studied for many years, and many cholesterol-reducing bacterium was discovered and applied to life. The cholesterol-lowering effect of Chinese materia medica also was studied by experts and scholars. But there is little research on Chinese materia medica and lactic acid bacteria collaborative cholesterol-lowering is reported. In order to make a breakthrough, the effect of lactic acid bacteria and the Chinese materia medica collaborative cholesterol-lowering in vitro and vivo will be explored this paper. Through transparent medium test and in vitro degradation of cholesterol, acid and bile tolerance and in vitro degradation of pig blood cholesterol test, one lactic acid bacteria strain-H4-with high cholesterol ability was screened from 83 strains. It is identified as L.rhamnosus. After the optimization of fermentation condition of pig blood by bacteria, the cholesterol-lowering ability of H4 is increased by 25.1%. 10 kinds of high frequency use of traditional Chinese medicine were selected in this paper. Compared with the effects of the degradation of cholesterol in blood, the cholesterol-lowering effect of Chinese magnoliavine fruit is the best. After optimization of the cholesterol-conditions of Chinese magnoliavine fruit, degradation rate of pig blood cholesterol is 54.55%, slightly less than H4. To search for high cholesterol-lowering efficiency drugs, H4 and Chinese magnoliavine fruit were compounded in vitro degradation of cholesterol in the blood. Furthermore, mice were gavage with Chinese magnoliavine fruit, H4 and H4 complexes of Chinese magnoliavine fruit for 4 weeks, Serum TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C and viscera index of laboratory mice are comparative analyzed. In conclusion, the complex had significant cholesterol-lowering effect on experimental lipemia mice.
