Objective:To explore the factors influencing the children after congenital cataract surgery.Providing certain theoretical basis and clinical guidance for the improving of visual quality of the children with congenital cataract.Methods:33 cases(66 eyes) with congenital cataract were selected from Shanxi Province eye hospital. They were all voluntary for follow-up. All children received bilateral cataract extraction combined with posterior capsule incision and anterior vitrectomy. To observe the visual acuity, the refractive state, complications and so on. To analyse the correlation between best corrected visual acuity(BCDVA) and the operation time, complications, refractive state. To eveluate refractive error properties of children with congenital cataract. To explore the relationship between the introacular lens implantation time and BCDVA.Results:The incidence of low vision after congenital cataract surgery is related with surgery time, posterior capsular opacity, nystagmus.28 eyes achicved unilateral best corrected visual acuity equalor less than 0.3.52 eyes achieved unilateral best corrected visual acuity equal or better than 0.3. The operation age is later, the risk of low vision is higher. The incidence of low vision among PCO group was obviously higher than that of without PCO.The difference is not significant among three types of refractive correction mode(introacular lens implantation, press-on optics, frame glasses). There is no significant correlation between intraocular lens implantation time and the best corrected visual acuity. There was no obvious difference in the incidence of low vision between the training group and the non amblyopia training group.Incidence of low vision among patients with nystagmus is far higher than children without nystagmus. Form deprivation myopia(FDM) may result in myopia. Axial length was the main cause. Conclusion:Surgery age,PCO and nystagmus were factors of inducing low vision. Early surgical intervention is necessary for congenital cataract.Regular reexamination is very important. The vision tend to increase with aging.
