Objective Designing Artificial Vertebral Body of Non-Fusion Technology(AVBNFT) and Artificial Disc, evaluating it bone ingrowth fixation and non-fusion effect in goat models, which was for the reference of prosthesis improvement and for the feasibility of clinical observation and application. Methods Designing Artificial Vertebral Body of Non-Fusion Technology with Co-Cr-Mo alloy, sprayed titanium coating and silica gel. Artificial Disc was designed with the same materials. Ten healthy adult goat aged 10 to 24 months old and weight 25 to 35 kg were used in this experiment. Ten goats were divided into A and B equally, which operated total disc replacement using Artificial Disc through the anterolateral approach. Then these goats were examined the lumbar spine X-ray, pathology and scanning electron microscope of surrounding osseous and soft tissues after 3,6 months, which evaluated titanium coating bone ingrowth, biocompatibility and mobility of Artificial Disc. Results The operation was successful in goat models. There was no complications after operation. They could walk normally on the first postoperative day, which showed immediate stability. Prosthesis located proper position on X-ray after operation 3, 6 months. The results of pathology and scanning electron microscope showed well bone ingrowth and biocompatibility. The lumbar spine X-ray showed well non-fusion.Conclusion Sprayed titanium coating showed well bone ingrowth. Artificial Disc showed reliable fixation and non-fusion technology in goat models.
