Objectives To investigate the current situation of insulin treatment satisfaction and influencing factors in diabetes mellitus(DM) patients, providing theoretical basis for medical workers when they give medical care to diabetic patients to improve treatment satisfaction. Methods 207 diabetic patients who treated with insulin in the endocrinology department of the first affiliated hospital of Chongqing medical university from December 2014 to May 2015 were recruited. The patients were evaluated with general information questionnaire and the Chinese version insulin treatment satisfaction questionnaire(ITSQ). All of the data was analyzed by SPSS19.0 software package. Descriptive analysis was used to describe the demographic and disease characteristics of DM patients. The mean and standard deviation were used to describe scores of ITSQ. Independent sample t test, analysis of variance, rank and inspection and multiple linear regression analysis were used to explore the factors affecting the insulin treatment satisfaction of diabetic patients. Results Total score of the ITSQ was 66.59±9.10. Single-factor analysis showed that there were statistical differences of ITSQ in social demography characteristics such as sex, age, body mass index(BMI), labor intensity, level of education, marital status, live alone, monthly income, payment method, the payment of medical expenses and so on. For different illness features, there were also statistical differences in duration of disease and insulin injection, fasting plasma glucose, the frequency of hypoglycemia, the need help to injection. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that frequency of hypoglycemia, fasting blood-glucose, age,the duration of insulin injection, live alone, monthly income and health education were the main influential factors of ITSQ(R2=0.506, F=17.181, P=0.000).Conclusions The satisfaction of these diabetic patients on insulin treatment is unsatisfied, which main influential factors were frequency of hypoglycemia, fasting blood-glucose, age,the duration of insulin injection, live alone, monthly income and health education. Healthcare providers should do some medical interventions to increase the insulin treatment satisfaction, improving the quality of life of DM patients.
