Backgroud and Objective: As one of the most significant risk factors for cardiovascular disease, diabetic mellitus(DM) could contribute to atrial fibrillation by the autonomic, electrical and structural remodelling. Catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation(AFCA) is an established strategy for drug-resistant symptomatic patient. However, the effectiveness of AFCA in patients with DM is based on prospective small population studies, and the results are heterogeneous. The present study aims to assess the outcome of AFCA in this subgroup of patients and relative risk factors. Methods and result: A systematic review of studies related to AFCA in DM patients was conducted in CNKI、VIP、Wanfang dataresource and Pub Med 、 Embase 、 Cochrane Library, all the statistical analyses were performed with Stata(v12.1) after inclusion and exclusion based on criteria presented. Finally, three prospective cohort studies were included, adding up to 238 AF patients with DM and 749 without DM. After a mean followup of 20.2±14.1 months, the relative risk(RR) of recurrence of AF was1.34(95%CI:0.79~2.29,p=0.277).Conclusion: The combination of DM in AF patients would not make significant different in the outcome of RFCA. |
