Objective: The present study aimed to investigate the diagnostic value of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio for bone and cartilage tumor, through analyzing the blood cell count and general inflammatory markers before invasive manipulation. Methods: This retrospective study involved 212 bone and cartilage tumor patients who underwent treatment and received biopsy at the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University between 2013.1-2015.12. Divided all patients into four groups, the metastatic tumor group is 83 patients, the malignant tumor group is 28 patients, the borderline tumor group is 20 patients, the benign tumor group is 81 patients.Using statistical calculations to analyze the relationship between this disease and NLR or other indexes. Results:The logistic regression analysis indicate that NLR is highly related to the differentiation of benign tumor and malignant tumor(P<0.01,OR:2.431-3.055); the NLR of benign tumor group is lower than other groups(P<0.05);The Area Under roc Curve of NLR is 0.807(P<0.01) which indicate that NLR is valuable to distinguish the malign-benign differentiation of bone and cartilage tumor, The optimal cut off value is 2.05,The sensitivity is 81.7%, The specificity is 72.8%.Conclusion: NLR has the auxiliary diagnostic value for bone and cartilage. Patient’s NLR is bigger, the possibility of the mass belongs to benign tumor is lower. The optimal diagnostic cut off value of NLR to judge the mass whether belongs to benign tumor or not is 2.05.
