Objective:To investigate the action of SDF-1 on the ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome( OHSS) by analyzing the correlation between stromal cell-derived factor-1(SDF-1) and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in follicular fluid(FF).Methods:The levels of SDF-1 and VEGF in FF of 26 patients as Group A(moderate to severe OHSS) and 46 as Group B(mild or no OHSS; control group) undergoing IVFET/ICSI-ET were analyzed with Enzyme-linked immunoadsordent assay(ELISA).Results:The concentrations of SDF-1 and VEGF in Group A were(3976.26 ? 3150.92)pg/ml,(171.02 ? 94.56) pg/ml,significantly different from that in Group B[(1615.5±1542.68)pg/ml,(126.23 ? 86.32)pg/ml](P=0.001,P=0.045).The correlation coefficients between SDF-1 and VEGF in Group A and B were 0.457 and0.167(P=0.019;P=0.267),respectively.The correlation coefficient between the FF concentration of SDF-1 and serum concentration of estrogen was 0.261(P=0.027).Conclusion:Positive correlations exist between the concentrations of SDF-1 and VEGF among moderate to severe OHSS,and between the FF concentration of SDF-1 and serum concentration of estrogen. The SDF-1 may promote the development of OHSS.
