Objective: To establish a method for analyzing chemical constituents of extracts from Stauntonia chinensis by GC-MS method. And we tested the effects of extracts from Stauntonia chinensis on the growth and development of Musca domestica at different development stages. The results will be a preliminary exploration of preventive role of Stauntonia chinensis to Musca domestica. Methods: 1.The preparation of extracts: Extracts from Stauntonia chinensis were prepared by ultrasonic oscillation.Black paste was obtained and stored at 4℃. 2. Analysis by GC-MS: the chemical constituents of the Stauntonia chinensis was extracted from peel and pulp, respectively, and differentially expressed metabolites were compared and analyzed by GC-MS. 3.Group of experiments: control group is the normal feed group, while the treatment group is the normal feed with 1% extract. Both two groups are bred naturally until the sixth generation. 4. Effect of extracts from Stauntonia chinensis on the growth and development of Musca domestica: 5 days old larvae of each generation in both the control and experimental group were weighed to observe its effects on the larvae weight. Effects of extract on the pupation: number of pupation in both control and experimental group were counted when larvae began to pupate. The cumulative rate of pupa, total the pupa rate and the duration of pupation were also recorded, respectively. Effects of extract on the ecolsion: the rate of eclosion, total the eclosion rate and the duration of eclosion were recorded in both control and experimental group, respectively. Results: 1.Analysis of extracts by GC-MS method: After preliminary analysis of the extracts from peel and pulp by GC-MS methods, 23 metabolites were verified finally, of which include 1 Terpene, 10 Alkanes, 8 Olefins, 2 Fatty acids, 1 Ester and 1 Ketone. And 4 kinds of metabolites showed significant differential expressed among the peel and pulp. 2. Effects on the larvae weight: Weight of each generation in the experimental group was lighter than that of control group(P<0.05). 3.The cumulative rate of pupa, total the pupa rate of each generation in experimental group lower than the control group(P<0.05). And duration of pupation show the appeared an increasingly delaying trend in the experimental group than the control group(P<0.05). Especially when raised the fourth generation, abnormal pupa and individual small pupa were appeared in the experimental group, in the fourth, fifth, sixth generation the percentage of abnormal pupa were respectively 5.95%, 6.45%,7.50%,the percentage of individual small pupa were 38.10%, 17.74%, 27.50%,and vice in the control group. 4. The cumulative rate of eclosion, total the eclosion rate of each generation in the experimental group were lower than that of control group(P<0.05). And the eclosion duration showed an increasingly delaying trend in the experimental group contrast to the control group(P<0.05). In particularly, when raised the fourth generation, abnormal pupa can’t emerged eclosion at all and lowest eclosion rate emerged among individual small pupa.In the fourth, fifth, sixth generation eclosion rate of individual small pupa were respectively 18.75%,13.64%,18.18%.Conclusion: 1. Based on the GC-MS analysis of the extracts from Stauntonia chinensis, some low polar component, such as the terpene, which may have relation of delayed development of Musca domestica, were identificated. 2. Stauntonia chinensi extracts can effectively effect the growth and development of Musca domestica, which will be candidate for new type of botanical pesticides.
