Objective:To explore the effect of atorvastatin on heat shock protein 60 and NF-κB signal pathway expression in aorta and heart tissue of atherosclerosis rats. Methods:Eighteen SD rats were randomly divided into three groups:control group(n=6) fed with normal diet;atherosclerosis group(n=6) fed with high fat diet;atorvastatin group(n=6) fed with high fat diet for twelve weeks and then giving atorvastatin(10mg ·kg-1·d-1 per gavage)for four weeks. Then blood was collected for lipid measuring;aorta tissue was prepared for morphologic study(HE);aorta and heart tissues were prepared for detecting the expression of HSP60 and NF-κB by immunohistoehemieal analysis. Results:Compared with control group,Serum cholesterol and low density liporoprotein levels were significantly higher in atherosclerosis group(all P<0.01),while triglyeeride level was similar between the two groups.Atherosclerotic lesion was apparent. The expression of HSP60 and NF-κB could be significantly increased in aorta and heart tissues(all P<0.01).By treatment with atorvastatin, serum cholesterol and low density lipoprotein levels were significantly lower compared with atherosclerosis group(all P<0.01),while triglyeeride level was similar between the two groups. Atherosclerotic lesion was lightened. HSP60 and NF-κB could be significantly decreased in aorta and heart tissues compared with atherosclerosis group(all P <0.05).Conclusion:Atorvastatin could reduce blood lipid and then reduce the expression of HSP60,and also could prevent NF-κB signal pathway,Which prevents and alleviates atherosclerosis.
