Analysis Of The Curative Effect Of Cold Knife And Plasma Cylindrical Electrode Combined Application In The Treatment Of Urethral Stricture

Objective: To conduct a retrospective analysis of the clinical results of patients with simple posterior urethral stricture treated by cold knife incision or cold knife combined with plasma columnar electrode incision, providing evidence for future clinical treatments.Methods: Collected data from 97 patients with urethral stricture from the Affiliated Hospital of Qinghai University from March 2009 to November 2015. The operation was divided into two groups: group A, 47 cases: simple posterior urethral stricture treated by cold knife incision; group B, 50 cases: urethral stricture treated with cold knife and plasma columnar electrode incision. The operation of these two groups were conducted under same conditions, afterwards the duration of surgery,postoperative hospital stay, postoperative removal of the catheter Qmax, the number of urethral dilation, urethral stricture recurrence rate, reoperation rate, etc. were recorded, processed and then summarized. A conclusion was proposed after analyzing the data using statistical methods.Results: There were 97 cases of surgery in total and all of them were conducted successfully. The statistics of operation time, hospital stay, postoperative removal of the catheter Qmax, the number of urethral dilation, urethral stricture recurrence rate,reoperation rate are shown as follow: group A :(38.2 ± 10.7) min,(3.9 ± 1.2) d,(17.1± 3.2) ml/s,(10.9 ± 2.7), 34%, 12%; group B:(40.3 ± 10.2) min,(4.2 ± 1.2) d,(20.7 ±3.0) ml/s,(8.0 ± 2.3), 25.5%, 4%.Conclusion: Cold knife combined with plasma columnar electrode in the treatment of urethral stricture are of comparatively good efficacy than the simple application of cold knife in treating urethral stricture in terms of the recurrence rate, postoperative catheter removal maximum flow rate, the number of urethral dilatation, reoperation rate. It is an operation method worth promoting.
