| Objective: The brain of 100 female persons were performed MRI scan and image analysis. 12 adult female brain specimens fixed by formalin, were made into the thickness of 0.5mm by celloidin embedding technique. We analyzed the anatomical position of the relationship the anterior limb of internal capsule and the anterior commissure in eollodion-embedded plans, and compared with the MRI of normal people. We also further compare the volume differences of the internal capsule. This research aimed to provide a sectional anatomic basis for the study of the central nervous system and deep brain stimulation to treat the mental neurological diseases.Methods: 1. The materials were obtained from 12 formalin fixed adult female brains pecimens(aged 53.6~79.3 years, mean 66.3 years) without significant damages and lesions. The brain of 100 normal persons(aged 50.3~86.5, mean 69.6 years) were performed MRI scan and image analysis. 2. 12 brain specimens were flushed by flowing water, dehydrated in ethanol solution with different consistence preprocessed by the mixture of ethyl ether and ethanol with l:l, embedded and immersed in celloidin with different consistence, at last producted successive celloidin slices of brain by an immersing-alcohol microtome in horizontal 〠coronal and sagittal sections, respectively, with the thickness of 0.5 mm, stored in 60% ethanol solution. 3. The brain of 100 normal persons were performed MRI scan and image analysis by using 3T-Trio MR scanner. 4. Selected 10 cases of more complete picture of the brain serial sections using Adobe Photoshop CS4 for image registration, and then applied the Matlab and Amira software for three-dimensional reconstruction and volume measurements of the internal capsule. Further conducted comparative analysis between left and right sides using the statistical software. 5. Select one case of brain MRI images to apply drawing tools for image processing format, then using Matlab and Amira software and the posterior of internal capsule was accurate anatomical positioning.Results: 1. Gross observation of celloidin slices brain. Horizontal section: Approxi mately 130 slices, each specimen, down from the parietal lobe about 35 mm around the level seen in the bag was the typical structure "> <" of the internal capsule. Levelof about 41 mm the anterior commissure was "arc" through the bottom head of the caudate nucleus connecting the anterior limb. Coronal section: about 150 slices per specimen was observed by the former lateral ventricle horn back, even before the close level of about 16 mm the anterior commissure was "arch" connecting the anterior limb. About 28 mm dimension the posterior limb of internal capsule extended down to the cerebral peduncle. Sagittal section: about 180 slices per specimen, from the outside to the inside to observe the temporal lobe, about 25 mm level forelimb located caudate nucleus and the putamenã€the globus pallidus; the posterior limb of internal capsule located between the putamen and the dorsal thalamus, and then extends to the brain stem. 2. Brain MRI image observation Horizontal position: above the typical level of the internal capsule, internal capsule showed high signal, the boundaries can be still recognized. Coronal position: MRI image can be observed clearly that the anterior commissure connect the bilateral anterior limb. Sagittal position: MRI image is not observed within the corona radiata and shift behavior toward the internal capsule.3.Three dimensional reconstruction of multi-angle, multi-directional observation of the internal capsule and adjacent structures can be continuously, and then dynamically observe the horizontal plane, coronal and sagittal anatomical structural features. Analysis of adult women left, right of the internal capsule and comparative analysis of volume data ministries difference was statistically significant.Conclusion: 1.The experiment described in detail anatomical localization of the internal capsule and anterior commissure, and to provide a reliable basis for the functional anatomy relations between the two follow-up studies. 2. The brain slices collodion shows better than the MRI image clearly about the positional relationship between the internal capsule and adjacent structures. 3. Measurements of the internal capsule and its various divisions within left and right are different to provide data support for the asymmetry of brain morphology study. |
