Literature Research On Chinese Botanical Medicine With Estrogen Activity Intervention On Hormone Dependent Breast Cancer

Chinese botanical medicine with estrogen activity(CBMEA) is one kind of Chinese herbs,which contains phytoestrogen(PE) and presents estrogen activity.Breast as the target organ of estrogen,the level of endogenous estrogen can influence the progression and prognosis of breast cancer in a great degree.Thus enough attentions should be paid to the safety of breast cancer intervened by CBMEA,especially for hormone dependent breast cancer.Thought combing the understanding of ancient and modern on breast cancer,concluding the research achievements of CBMEA,and systematic evaluating the effectiveness and safety of CBMEA intervention on breast cancer to provide theoretical support for the clinical application of Chinese herbs in the treatment of hormone dependent breast cancer.To study the clinical safety of CBMEA,we systematically sort out research findings of CBMEA by searching CNKI, CBM, Pubmed and other databases.The results show that there are 52 Chinese herbs present estrogen activity,which are proved by screening experiments,and 9 extract of Chinese herbs are detected to present estrogen activity,61 Chinese herbal medicine are totally detected to have estrogen activities,including 20 tonic herbs,10 heat clearing and 6 activating blood circulation,as well as the other 9 categories of traditional Chinese medicines.The result of research on CBMEA shows that:There are there views about the function of CBMEA intervention on hormone dependent breast cancer,including induce the cells of breast cancer proliferation,or inhabit its growth and proliferation,or stimulate the proliferation of cells of estrogen dependent breast cancer at a low concentration and inhabit its proliferation at a high concentration.As the result in vitro experiment does not accurately reflect its function on the patients of breast cancer.We evaluate the influences of CBMEA intervention on hormone dependent breast cancer by research the RCT,whoes experimental group contains CBMEA.In this article,we first conducted a systematic review on the safety of CBMEA intervention on breast cancer. And the result of Meta analysis manifests that:No study shows the intervention of CBMEA on breast cancer patients could increase E2 in the body or stimulate endometrial thickening.No matter combined with endocrine therapy or not,CBMEA will not increase E2 levels or stimulate endometrial growth of hormone dependent breast cancer patients. It indicates that there are no evidences show it is not safe to treat hormone dependent breast cancer and its complication with CBMEA.Anf there are no statistical differences in the efficacy of solid tumor between CBMEA intervention group and control group.Above all,not all clinician are aware of the influences of Chinese botanical medicine on estrogen levels and safety in patients with breast cancer.This means the research on the safety of CBMEA on hormone dependent breast cancer needs further study.
