ObjectiveThe purpose of this study was to retrospectively evaluate the impact of successful atrial fibrillation catheter ablation on tricuspid and mitral regurgitation.MethodsAF patients (n=21) with moderate to severe valvular regurgitation who were able to maintain sinus rhythm after procedure between November 2014 and October 2015 were included. Then the echocardiography after their 3-month blanking period were compared with the initial ones.ResultsAfter 211±102 days of follow-up,10 patients (83%) with tricuspid regurgitation improved, only paroxysmal atrial fibrillation could predict the failure of improvement (p=0.015).13 patient (100%) with mitral regurgitation improved.ConclusionFor the patients with moderate to severe valvular regurgitation who were able to maintain sinus rhythm after procedure, the valvular regurgitation could improve. And they might be able to avoid surgical operation.
