Observation Of The Curative Effect In Treatment Of Knee Osteoarthritis With Baihuadan Analgesic Ointment

ObjectiveThrough observing the effect of treating knee osteoarthritis(KOA) patients by the mean of Baihuadan Analgesic Ointment. And to promote the level of theoretical research by the treatment of KOA with TCM. In order to further develop the clinical application of Baihuadan Analgesic Ointment.MethodsThis study is a randomized, positive control, superiority design. The trail selected 80 patients with KOA were come from Second Department of orthopedics, Dongguan Hospital of TCM, on February 2014 to February 2016, which met the inclusion criteria but does not include any of exclusion cr iteria.According to the random method.divided into two group,with each g roup 40 patients(knee):(1) Experimental group:using by Baihuadan Analges ic Ointment, evenly applied to the knee pain with 2-4g,3 times a day, wh ich continues 14 days. (2) Control group:using by Votalin Emulgel, even ly applied to the knee pain with 2-4g,3 times a day, which continues 14 days. The KOA clinical symptoms (pain and tenderness) semi quantitative i ntegral criterion score, Lequesne score, evaluation of effect, the overall evaluation of the curative effect by the patients, VAS score and drug ef fect-acting period would be carried out before and after the treatment.T o analyze the statistic got from the patients after treatment.Result(1) Evaluation of effect:in the experimental group,2 were cured,25 got dramatic effects,11 cases were effective, while 2 failed to respond to the medication. As a result, the total-effective rate was 95.0%; in the control group,1 were cured,9 got dramatic effects,22 cases were effective, while 8 failed to respond to the medication. As a result, the total effective rate was 80.0%. And Compared total effectiveness between the observation group and control group had statistical significance(P<0.05), the total effective rate of experimental group was higher than the control group, showing the efficacy of the experimental group is better.(2) The KOA clinical symptoms (pain and tenderness) semi quantitative integral criterion score:For two groups, both of them possessed the statistical significance(P<0.05) in contrasting before and after treatment; meanwhile, there was statistical significance (P<0.05) in the contrast between the two groups after the treatment.(3) Lequesne score:For experimental group and control group, both of them possessed the statistical significance(P<0.05) in contrasting before and after treatment; meanwhile, there was statistical significance (P<0.05) in the contrast between the two groups after the treatment.(4) Evaluation of the efficacy by patients:There was no statistical significance (P>0.05) in the contrast between the two groups after the treatment. But the patients of two groups were satisfied with the curative effect.(5) VAS score and drug effect-acting period:VAS score, both of the two groups possessed the statistical significance (P<0.05) in contrasting before and after treatment; meanwhile, there was statistical significance (P<0.05) in the contrast between the two groups after the treatment. But there was no statistical significance (P>0.05) in the contrast between the two groups after the treatment in drug effect-acting period.(6) Safety indicators:the clinical research had no adverse events occurred during the use of Baihuadan Analgesic Ointment and Votalin Emulgel. ConclusionBase on the above comprehensive results, Baihuadan Analgesic Ointment is a kind of definite effective components, high safety, less adverse reaction, TCM external treatment of KOA curative effect exact, it is TCM ointment which is worthy of clinical application.
