Aim In order to investiagte the relationship between serum levels of IL-22 and the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with acute myocardial infarction, and explore the potential function and mechanism of IL-22, we tested the serum level of IL-22(interleukin 22) in patients with acute myocardial infarction. Methods 71 patients with acute myocardial infaction were enrolled in this study,enzyme-linked immuno sorbent assay (ELISA) were used to test the serum level of IL-22,we divieded the patients into high level IL-22 group and low level IL-22 grouop according to the medium. Patients were followed up for 12 months, an endpoint event was defined as death(all-cause death and cardiac death),recurrent myocardial infaction, heart failure, angina pectoris.Medications and echocardiography report were also recorded.Result During 12-month follow up,the major finding of this study is that circulating level of IL-22 are associated with the risk of cardiovascular event. Elevated levels of IL-22 are associated with a worse outcome in patients with acute myocardial infaction compared to low level IL-22 group after adjustment. (HR) 1.40 (1.03-1.91) (P =0.047)Conclusions Elevated levels of IL-22 are associated with a higher risk of major adverse cardiac events in patients with acute myocardial infaction indicating that IL-22 might be a new biomarker for the prognosis of acute myocardial infaction, providing a new approach that prognosis could be improved by IL-22 signaling pathway inhibitor.
