The Research Of The Rehabilitation About Pulse Acupuncture And Traditional Chinese Medicine For Treating Dysphagia In NPC Patients After Radiotherapy

ObjectivesTo study the clinical effect of the recovered therapy of Pulse acupuncture cooperate with TCM for treating dysphagia in NPC patients after RT. TCM is remarkable on the unique system of syndrome differentiation and treatment. The recovered therapy of Pulse acupuncture cooperate with TCM can guide patients to the rehabilitation of swallowing actively. It improves deglutition function and the quality of life in NPC patients with dysphagia after RT.MethodsFrom May.2015 to Dec.2015,30 cases of patients in NPC with dysphagia after RT that had been confirmed by the pathological without long-dated metestasis and dysphagia previously. The assessment of deglutition function to EAT-10 total score is more than 3 points and WST I level or above. In addition, the time of food through the pharynx was more than 1 second by the VFSS test. The patients were aged between 20 to 78 years old, who had been signed the informed consent and can cooperate with the treatment. The patients were randomly divided into experimental group and control group by computer generated random number. Among these patients, the number of experimental group is 15 and others were in control group. All patients were treated with traditional Chinese medicine and recovered training based on the result of swallowing evaluation. And the experimental group was based on general treatment for pulse acupuncture treatment. The details were determined with t test, x2 test analysis by using SPSS Statistics 17.0 processing data.ResultsCompare the swallowing curative effect of the experimental group with control group before and after treatment. After comparing the time of the iodine through pharyngeal under the VFSS, the result show the diference of time was 1.33±0.72 in experimental group, versus level 0.67±0.72 in control group. The result of VFSS show that the total effective rate in experimental group was 86.67%, and 53.3% in the control group. The total effective rate of WST was 86.67% in the experimental group, versus 60.00% in the control group. There was statistically significant difference in comparing the deglutition function between the two groups (P<0.05).ConclusionBecause of the complexity and irreversibility of swallowing dysfunctions after RT. A single treatment can only improve clinical symptoms unilaterally. Make full use of the advantages of TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment. We need to strengthen the effect of clinical treatment by regulating the overall body. The result shows that deglutition function was obviously improved. The treatment reduced the risk of choking cough and aspiration. It’s worth for popularization and application.
