Background:Double eyelid blepharoplasty is one of the common executed procedures by plastic surgeons in Asian countries. However, with more numerous executed procedures, sometimes complication could occur, fading and disappearance of eyelid after blepharoplasty is one of the major complications. Patient would come to the hospital seeking to repair the result of previous surgery and depending on the condition of the eyelid surgeon would advise revision surgery to enhance the look of patient eye using either incision technique or buried suture technique. Objective:Analyze the efficacy of revision surgery for double eyelid fading or disappearance after primary blepharoplasty and to explore the corrective methods. Methods:Incisional technique and Suture technique are used to repair double eyelid fading or disappearance depending on the eyelid condition of the patients. The postoperative picture is taken to assess the result of the revision surgery.Result:32 patients who underwent revision surgery using incision technique (24 patients) and buried suture technique (8 patients) were followed up from 1 month up to 6 months. Of these,6 subjects developed new crease from complete disappearance of eyelid fold (18.75%),26 subjects saw significant improvement from previously fading eyelid fold (81.25%),0 subject saw no improvement from the repair (0%). Postoperative hemorrhage or superficial ecchymosis is seen among all subjects during the first 24-48 hours after surgery therefore dressing is applied for the first two days. Swelling of the eyelid happens during recovery time which usually resolves from 1 month to 6 months, swelling of the 31 (96.8%) patients resolves in less than 3 months and 1 (3.2%) resolves after more than 3 months. Post operatively none of the subjects have difficulties during opening and closing of the eyelid, no visual disturbances, no infection, no hypertrophic scarring, no symptoms of dry eye and no recurrence of eyelid fading and disappearance. All patients were pleased with the result of the surgery. Conclusion:Based on this study, fading or disappearance of eyelid after primary blepharoplasty can be repaired after revision surgery using incisional technique or suture technique.
