Objective:To investigate the value of colonoscopy in the judgment of the lower margin of the tumor in the ultra low rectal cancer. Methods:A retrospective study of patients whom operated in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University from January 2012 to October 2015. After being screened,84 postoperative patients with Miles were included. The tumor lower edge distance was separately obtained by colonoscopy, rectal examination and fresh postoperative specimens. Related influencing factors was collected such as gender, BMI index, general types of tumor and colonoscopy types etc. The data was analyzed by the application of SPSS22.0 statistical software, in addition to special instructions, a=0.05.Results:The average showed Rectal examination distance was the biggest, on the contrary Postoperative specimen distance was the Least. There was a statistical difference between colonoscopy distance and rectal examination distance (P=0.04).I set the boundary of 2cm from the dentate line, the higher the specimen distance, the greater the statistical difference was obtained by colonoscopy examination (P=0.00001). However, at the same stage, the difference between Rectal examination distance and Postoperative specimen distance was statistically lesser (P=0.001).In these cases, there were 46 men, accounted for 54.76%,38 women, accounted for45.24%. There were no statistically significantly different effects on the distance of colonoscopy examination in the two group by gender (P=0.899); If it groups by BMI, there are 7 patients less than 18.5,22 patients more than 24 and 55 patients between 18.5 and 24. There are no statistically significantly different effects on the distance of colonoscopy examination in these groups by BMI (P=0.320); Among general types of tumor, there are 9 tumor types,14 invasive types and 61 Ulcer types, no statistically significantly different effects on the distance of colonoscopy examination were found (P=0.0496, (a=0.01));Finally, according to the type of colonoscopy,65 people accepted painless colonoscopy,19 people accepted conventional colonoscopy, no statistically significantly different effects on the distance of colonoscopy examination (P=0.430).Conclusion:Rectal examination to determine the distance accuracy of rectal cancer from the anal verge is better than that of colonoscopy distance. The closer the distance between tumor and anal verge was, the smaller the error by colonoscopy. The factors such as Gender, BMI index, colonoscopy type and tumor types did not affect the distance by colonoscopy. However, Colonoscopy can provide a more objective basis for judging distance of ultra-low rectal cancer from the lower edge.
