Objective:To explore and compare the value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) and virtual touch tissue quantification (VTQ) technique in the differential diagnosis of benign and malignant tiny (diameter≤2cm) hepatic lesions. Methods:CEUS and VTQ were performed in 138 hepatic lesions of 117 patients which their diameters≤2cm, the benign and malignant of hepatic lesions was diagnosticly analyzed. According to the criteria of pathology and imageology, the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and diagnostic rate of CEUS and VTQ were calculated in the differential diagnosis of benign and malignant minimal hepatic lesions. Results:In 138 tiny hepatic lesions,53 lesions were benign and 85 lesions were malignant. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and diagnostic rate of CEUS were 85.9%,92.5%,94.8%, 80.3%,88.4%, respectively; With a cut-off value of 2.08 m/s for SWV value, the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and diagnostic rate of VTQ were 82.4%,81.1%,87.5%,74.1%,81.9%, respectively. AUC was 0.843. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and diagnostic rate of CEUS combined with VTQ were 95.3%,77.4%,87.1%,91.1%,88.4%. There was no significant difference between VTQ and CEUS in the diagnosis of tiny malignant hepatic lesions. The sensitivity of CEUS combined with VTQ technology in the diagnosis of tiny malignant hepatic lesions was statistically significant compared with CEUS and VTQ respectively. Conclusions:Bother CEUS and VTQ have similar high value in the differential diagnosis of benign and malignant tiny hepatic lesions, they reflect the characteristics of lesions from different aspects and they can compensate for each other, the combination of two methods can reduce the rate of missed diagnosis on malignant tiny hepatic lesions.
