Background:As one of the most common malignancy, the breast cancer has became the second lethal disease among human females. According to the statistics, there are about 230,000 new diagnosed breast cancer patients and led to over 40,000 women die of this disease each year all over the American. It has became the hot spot of the biomedical science since it caused severe damage to human society. The treatment and diagnosis at early stage of breast cancer has made the tremendous progress in recent years due to the advanced mammographic screening, adjuvant treatment and improved curing for the metastatic patients. Nevertheless the therapeutic returns still do not meet the needs, especially among the stage Ⅳ breast cancer patients. That’s the reason why scientists need the different perspective to uncover this disease. As a member of LAP protein family, Erbin is consist of 16 leucine-rich repeats(LRRs) in the NH2 termini and one PDZ domain in the COOH termini. Despite Erbin was first identified as HER2 interact protein, more and more interact proteins of Erbin has been identified in recent years. The experssion of Erbin in breast cancer and its relationship with oncogene are worth to detect due to Erbin’s biological diversity. Methods:First, we took immunohistochimestry(IHC) to detect the expression of Erbin among both bona fide and malignant tissue samples, which come from the department of pathology and has been confirmed by pathologists. Second, we got the data of HER2,p53,Ki-67 which are closely related to treatment and prognosis through IHC, meanwhile we gathered the data of axillary lymph node(ALN) and tumour size of these patients. The comparison of Erbin and characteristics gave us different angles of breast cancer. Results:1.The expression of Erbin is much lower in benign tissue than in malignant tissue.2. The expression of Erbin correlate with HER2 in breast cancer, compared with low expression of Erbin with negative HER2, Erbin with positive HER2 has higher expression.3.In breast cancer,p53 also connect to the expression of Erbin, positive p53 has higher Erbin compared with negative p53.4.There are no connection between Erbin and clinicopathological characteristics of Ki-67, axillary lymph node and tumour size. Conclusion:High expression of Erbin is closely relate to HER2 depended breast cancer cells, Erbin can stabilize HER2 and promote its amplification. Erbin could also help to stabilize p53 and facilitate its accumulation led to tumorigenesis.
