Long-term Survival Prognostic Analysis In Advanced NSCLC With FuZheng KangAi Decoction Intervention

ObjectiveThis study was to investigate the prognostic factors of advanced NSCLC with long-term survival (more than 2 years) so as to optimize the Chinese and Western medicine treatment.MethodsThe clinical data of 113 cases treated with FuZheng KangAi decoction in Guangdong Hospital of TCM from January 2006 to December 2015 were analyzed retrospectively. Survival rates were calculated by Kaplan-Meier method. Thirty-nine potential prognostic factors were evaluated by using Kaplan-Meier and Log-Rank method for univariate analysis and Cox’s proportional hazard regression model for multivariate analysis, screening out protective and dangerous factors.ResultsUp to the last follow-up time (March 1,2016),113 cases were evaluable. 56 cases were died and 57 were still alive. The 3-,4-and 5-year survival rate was 51.3%,26.5%,12.4%, respectively, and median survival time was 36.4 months (95% CI:32.0-40.8 months).Among thirty-nine factors that may affect the prognosis of advanced NSCLC with long-term survival, ten factors were the prognostic factors by using Kaplan-Meier and Log-Rank method for univariate analysis, including sex, smoking history, PS score, lose weight, tumor size, pleural fluid, pathology, lymph node staging, TCM syndrome types and time of FuZheng KangAi decoction intervention.By using Cox model for multivariate analysis, five factors were the independent prognostic factors, including PS score, tumor size, lymph node staging, TCM syndrome types and time of FuZheng KangAi decoction intervention. Of those, PS≥2, N3, Qi and Yin deficiency type, pyretic toxicity flourishing type and time of FuZheng KangAi decoction intervention less than 24 months were the prognostic dangerous factors.Conclusion1. PS score, tumor size, lymph node staging, TCM syndrome types and time of FuZheng KangAi decoction intervention can affect the long-term survival of advanced NSCLC.2.
