Objective:To observe the therapeutic effect and mechanism of Bu-shen-he- mai-zhong-yao-zhi-ji (HMZYZJ) on experimental atherosclerosis(AS) in ApoE-deficient mice.Methods:Twenty-four male ApoE-deficient mice were randomly divided into 3 groups (8 mice per group). High-fat group:High-fat diet (0.25% cholesterol and 15% cocoa butter), HMZYZJ group: High-fat diet + HMZYZJ (HMZYZJ decoction 1.37g/kg/day),Atrovastatin group: High-fat diet + atrovastatin (5 mg/kg/day) for 8 weeks. The extent of AS, macrophage infiltration and the expression of inflammatory factors were evaluated by H&E staining, immunohistochemistryResults:The extent of AS was significantly lower in HMZYZJ group and Atrovastatin group than that in high-cholesterol group. The macrophage filtration and the expression of inflammatory factors were significantly lower in HMZYZJ group and atrovastatin group than that in high-cholesterol group. Conclusion:The results suggested that HMZYZJ significantly inhibited early atherosclerotic lesions by inhibiting inflammatory response.
