Objective To investigate epidemiological and clinical characteristics in elderly liver diseases,to guide the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Methods Collected the medical records of the infection were admitted all the clinical diagnosis of liver disease in elderly(age ≥60 years) hospitalized patients, the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University during in January 2009- in December2014,a total of 1062 cases.A retrospective study of 1062 hospitalized elderly liver diseases was conducted.Result During past six years, we have collected a total of 6179 cases of liver disease, including 1062 cases of elderly patients, 17.19 percent of hospitalized patients with liver disease. Age range is from 60 to 90 years old, with the Average age of the participants at(66.98 ± 6.183) years, the male was 687 cases(64.69%) and female was 375 cases(35.31%), male to female ratio was 2.4: 1. In these patients, 768 cases were viral liver disease, 179 cases were non-viral liver disease and 115 cases were cryptogenic liver disease. In 2009 the incidence in elderly patients with liver disease was 11.87% in our hospitalized patients with liver disease and from 2010 to 2014 the incidence was increased gradually with the year goes and the percent was 14.32%、15.80%、16.67%、19.06%、23.21%, respectively. We classified the patients into different causes, they can be divided into viral liver disease, non-viral liver disease and cryptogenic liver disease, the difference during past six years have proved to have significance by chi-square analysis and comparison(χ2 = 25.604, P = 0.001). Data show that viral hepatitis in 2014 the percent was 67.37% and non-viral liver disease was 20.7% and cryptogenic liver disease was 11.93%, however, in 2009 the percent was 80.91, 13.63 and 5.45 respectively, during past six years, viral hepatitis was still a major cause of patients, however, the incidence of viral hepatitis in the proportion of elderly in the liver decreased,non-viral liver disease and the onset of cryptogenic infection showed an increasing trend year by year, prompt that we will focus on prevention tips elderly liver metastasis from viral hepatitis to prevent non-viral liver disease and cryptogenic hepatitis direction.Through the retrospective analysis, the study showed that with the1062 cases of liver disease in the elderly, there are 110 cases of liver failure and the percent was 10.36 and chronic liver failure was more common, sub-acute liver failure was secondly, the recovery rate was 29.09% and the fatality rate was 70.91% in liver failure patients. Conclusion Elderly liver is still given priority to viral hepatitis, rather than non-viral liver disease and the onset of cryptogenic infection showed an increasing trend year by year. Among elderly liver failure, chronic liver failure is more common, many coexisting disease may cause exacerbations or complications.
