Objective: The purpose of the study is through the analysis of the intestinal barrier function, inflammatory factors, pulmonary ventilatory function between the conventional nutrition therapy group(control group) and the individualized nutrition therapy group(experimental group),to investigate the impact of a compound enteral nutrition containing Donkey milk、Badam and Qamgur from Xinjiang in patients with severe pneumonia(SP). Methods: Totally 108 patients with SP and accepted mechanical ventilation, from the intensive care unit(ICU) of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region People’s Hospital during the period of August 2014 to August 2015, were randomly divided into the control group(54 cases) and the experimental group(54 cases) respectively, there were 99 patients had completed the study in the end(control group 49 cases, experimental group50 cases). Both groups were given basic treatment and conventional nutrition therapy, while the experimental group was given additionally a compound enteral nutrition which contains Donkey milk、Badam and Qamgur from Xinjiang at a dose of 20g·d-1. The intestinal barrier function, inflammatory factors, oxygenation index and the mechanical ventilation time were observed in both groups before and at days 7 and 14 after treatment. Results: The two kinds of nutrition therapy played an active part in the comprehensive treatment of SP. The levels of DAO、D-LC and BT in both groups decreased after treatment, which was more significant in experimental group than in control group after 14 days of therapy(P<0.05). After treatment, in the combined effects of a compound enteral nutrition containing Donkey milk、Badam and Qamgur from Xinjiang, the IL-6、CRP and PCT of experimental group were significantly slower than of themselves before study and of control group after treatment of 14 days(P <0.05);Compared with control group, the PaO2/Fi O2 in experimental group increased more significantly after 14 days of treatment(P<0.05). The average time of mechanical ventilation in experimental group was 8.54±1.92 days versus 9.76±2.49 days in control group(P<0.05). Conclusion: This compound enteral nutrition can protect intestinal barrier function, inhibit the releasing of inflammatory factors, and improve the lung function, shorter the mechanical ventilation time in patients with severe pneumonia.
