ObjectivesThis study aims to verify the scientificity and effectiveness of characterized invention project through the health education on adolescents in two cities (Hangzhou and Jiaxing). To analyze the adolescent’s variation on self-efficacy and behavior stage. To build the structural equation model on adolescent’s behavior stage variation and to provide improvement approach in enhancing adolescent’s fruit and vegetable intake and help schools have better effect on health education and health promotion.Methods1. Field investigation:Two cities(Hangzhou and Jiaxing) were selected as the survey fields.1300 students were chose. The scale used in this survey was [the patient-centered assessment and counseling for exercise plus nutrition project (PACE+) for adolescent-scale of fruit vegetables], it includes the demographic situation, fruit and vegetable intake stage, self-efficacy, social support dimension and so on.2. Intervening measures:After the baseline’s investigation, different intervening measures were used in different classes based on students’behavior stage. The measures include video display, health theme cartoon display, pocket books, group discussion, experience sharing, blackboard newspaper, knowledge contest, food record card, summer holiday’s health productions contest and so on.3.Mathematical statistics:Epidata 3.1 were used to logging data twice, SPSS17.0 and AMOS4.0 were used to analyzed the data:descriptive analyses, single factor analyses, pair test were used to see the effect of intervention on behavior stage and self-efficacy; logistic regression was used to see how psychological and social factors impact the stage; structural equation model was used to establish the mechanism of psychological and social factors impact the behavior stage and to build the changing pattern on adolescent’s fruit and vegetable intake stage.Results1.Among the objectives,1181 were valid including 519(43.9%) intervention group population and 663(56.1%) control group population.594(50.3%) students were from middle schools,588(49.7%) students were from high schools; 528(44.7%) students were boys and 654(55.3%) students were girls. The average age was 14.91+1.59.2. The intervention effect were both better than traditional health education in middle school and high school students(p<0.05),high school students had better effect. Middle school student’s self-efficacy hadn’t changed much as the intervention go through, high school student’s self-efficacy on family food moved to a better stage. But these two kinds of people both did not well in resisting unhealthy food.3. Factor’Intervention\control group’have impact on high school student’s fruit and vegetable intake stage moving, and social factors impact them deeper than middle school students. The major impact factors to behavior stage were self-efficacy and grade with the value of 0.124 and 0.111.6.The satisfaction survey showed that students were mostly satisfied with the video, the cartoon and the pocket books, the different between middle school students and high school students were not obvious.ConclusionsFruit and vegetable intake intervention based on behavior stage on adolescents was effective, high school students reflected better effect than middle school students. Self-efficacy’s transition had closed relation with behavior stage’s transition. Social factor’s transition had relation with self-efficacy, the family’s and friend’s support promote one’s behavior stage transition somehow. There is need to explore much more effective health eating intervene measures suitable for middle school students.
