ObjectiveObserve the serum concentrations of Bone Morphogenetic Protein 2(BMP-2)and Bone Morphogenetic Protein 7(BMP-7)as well as the calcification of carotid artery in patients with chronic kidney disease. To determine the correlation between the two factor and the calcification of carotid artery.By observing the changing of BMP-2 and BMP-7 to explore the relationship between them.MethodsThe experimental group were composed of 52 patients with CKD5 who were hospitalized in nephrology department of Anhui provincial hospital from Nove 2014 to June 2015,while the control group were composed of 40 health people volunteers. The color Doppler ultrasonography was conducted in all patients and the carotid media thickness was recorded to evaluate the carotid artery calcification. Fasting venous blood samples of all people were collected. The serum concentration of BMP-2 and BMP-7 were detected via enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).The serum concentration of calcium (Ca), phosphorus (P),high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) were detected through automatic biochemical analyzer and intact parathyroid hormone(iPTH) through electrochemiluminescence.Results1 The serum concentration of BMP-7, Ca and HDL-C in experimental group were lower than that in control one (P<0.05), while the serum concentration of BMP-2,P,iPTH and CaxP was higher in experimental group(P<0.01).2 There were 28 cases without IMT in all 52 patinet while 24 cases with IMT including 9 atheromatous plaque formation. There were 3lcases without IMT in control group while 9 cases with IMT including 2 atheromatous plaque formation. The incidence of carotid artery calcification in experimental group was higher than that in control one (P<0.05).3 Comparison of concentration of serum P,BMP-2,BMP-7and CaxP in non-IMT, IMT and atheromatous plaque formation groups indicated significant difference (P< 0.05).4 Spearman correlation analysis indicated that vascular calcification positively correlated with serum BMP-2 (rs=0.77,P<0.05), P,iPTH,CaxP and age. This analysis also indicated that calcification negatively correlated with BMP-7(rs=-0.48,P<0.05). Pearson correlation analysis indicated that serum BMP-2 positively correlated with P and CaxP.Serum BMP-2 negatively correlated with BMP-7(rs=-0.47,P<0.05)ConclusionThe serum concentration of BMP-2 in patients with CKD5 is higher than that in healthy people, hower, the concentration of BMP-7 is lower than that in healthy people. The incidence of carotid artery calcification in experimental group is higher than that in control one. This phenomenon is associated with the higher concentration of BMP-2 and the lower of BMP-7.Serum BMP-2 negatively correlated with BMP-7.
