Correlation Between RNFL Thickness And Visual Field Defect In Primary Open-angle Glaucoma Patients

Objective: To investigate the primary open-angle glaucoma retinal nerve fiber layer thickness and visual field defects in patients with relevance, in order to provide an effective reference for early diagnosis.Methods: December 2014- December 2015 in our hospital treated 41 patients with primary Primary open angle glaucoma patients and the same period in our hospital examination healthy as research subjects were tested the retinal nerve fiber layer thickness visual field defect value and correlation analysis.Results:(1) Control subjects in each quadrant RNFL thickness and peripapillary average RNFL thickness values for the whole week were 128.96±17.70μm、137.72±20.40μm、74.44±7.78μm、80.20±12.08μm、102.04±14.07μm, full week RNFL thickness valuesin patients with early POAG group and each quadrant RNFL average thickness around the optic disc were117.99±12.89μm、114.94±11.97μm、67.92 ±10.39μm、65.09±11.69μm、86.51±11.06μm,advanced POAG patients each quadrant RNFL thickness and peripapillary average RNFL thickness values for the whole week were 98.70±9.99μm、91.96±13.40μm、54.78±9.67 μm、61.05±9.25μm、82.09±9.17 μm. Three groups of subjects pairwise comparisons, each quadrant RNFL average thickness around the entire circumference of the disc and RNFL thickness differences were significant,statistically significant(P <0.05).(2) healthy control subjects in each quadrant visual field defect value and the value of the entire periphery of the visual field defect around the optic disc were 1.22±0.19 d B、1.34±0.35 d B、1.56±0.59 d B、1.25±0.59 d B、1.35±0.65 d B,early POAG each quadrant of the visual field defects in patients value and the value of the entire periphery of the visual field defect around the optic disc were 1.36±0.22 d B、1.59±0.80 d B、2.07±0.97 d B、1.40±0.25 d B、1.67±0.64 d B, the value of each quadrant of the visual field defects observed in patients and the entire periphery of the visual field defect values around the optic disc were 7.12±1.14dB、6.52±1.46dB、7.72±2.04dB、8.05±2.26 d B、7.85±1.49 d B. Early POAG group and control group, each quadrant of the visual field defects and optic disc around the entire periphery of the visual field defect cases no significant difference not statistically significant(P > 0.05). Advanced POAG group and control group, respectively, and the Early POAG group, each quadrant of visual field defects and optic disc around the entire periphery of the visual field defect cases the differences were significant, statistically significant(P <0.05).(3) by linear regression analysis, POAG patients of average RNFL thickness and visual field mean defect correlation coefficient value of r=-0.612, above the RNFL thickness and visual field defect corresponding to the top of the hemi-value correlation coefficient r=-0.553, RNFL thickness below the corresponding hemi visual field defects below the value of the correlation coefficient r =-0.679, nasal RNFL thickness values corresponding to the nasal field defect correlation coefficient r =-0.536, temporal RNFL thickness corresponding to the value of the temporal visual field defect correlation coefficient r=-0.693, and the differences were significant, statistically significant(P <0.05).Conclusion: RNFL thickness can be objective and quantitative analysis of the visual function of the degree of damage, contribute to the diagnosis and monitoring of glaucoma,accurately determine the condition, timely prevention and treatment.
