A Randomized Controlled Trial Study For 309 Patients In Water Method Vs Air Method Colonoscopy

Objective: To compare adenoma detection rate(ADR), patient tolerance, and difficulty of water injection and air injection method in the operation of electronic colonoscopy. Methods: It has been used that a randomized controlled trial divided patients into water injection groups and air injection group for comparing total ADR, ADR in different parts of colon, ADR of different sizes adenoma, the largest pain score of patients, and the difficulty of operation. Results:(1) There is no significant statistical difference between water and air injection groups in the overall adenoma detection rate,different sizes(<5mm, 5 ~ 10 mm,> 10mm), and different locations(ascending colon,transverse colon, descending colon).(2) Water injection and air injection groups have statistically significant difference in the largest pain scores, pain scores of air injection are higher than the water injection method. Changes in body position of water injection were more than those of the air injection, and had statistical difference. Pressing abdomen of water group less than it of the air injection, but hardness adjustment was more, but there was no statistical difference. There was a significant statistical difference of colonoscopy willingness in the second comparison, the water injection group was higher than air injection group.(3)The total time of inserted mirror, back mirror of water injection group was longer than air injection, and has a significant statistical difference. Conclusion:(1)There is no significant difference in adenoma detection rate between the water injection and gas injection.(2)Water injection colonoscopy improve patient pain tolerance.(3)The operation time of water injection method is longer than the time of the gas injection method.
