Clinical Characteristics And Corresponding Risk Factors Of Portal Vein Thrombosis In Liver Cirrhosis

Objective: To investigate the clinical characteristics and corresponding risk factors of portal vein thrombosis(PVT) in patients with liver cirrhosis. Methods: Sixty-five patients diagnosed liver cirrhosis with PVT(PVT group) and seventy cirrhosis patients without PVT(non PVT group) were collected from June 2013 to June 2015. Demography characteristics and clinical data were recorded and retrospectively analyzed. Results: The results showed that there were no statistically differences between the two groups(P>0.05)in age, sex, nationality, etiology, white blood cell, platelet, international normalized ratio,activated partial thromboplastin time, fibrinogen, creatinine, total bilirubin, splenic vein diameter, diarrhea, intestinal obstruction, hepatorenal syndrome and hepatic encephalopathy. Compared with those of non-PVT group, the clinical date of PVT group were statistically significant differences(P<0.05) in D-dimmer, fibrinogen degradation product, hemoglobin, albumin, portal vein diameter, spleen thickness, spleen length,Child-Pugh score, splenectomy, abdominal pain, fever, upper gastrointestinal bleeding and spontaneous bacterial peritonitis. D-dimmer(OR=4.290, P<0.000) and portal vein diameter(OR=1.294, P=0.023) were independent risk factors of PVT in cirrhosis patients.Conclusion: The incidence of PVT is high in patients with advanced cirrhosis, high level of D-dimmer and fibrinogen degradation product as well as wide portal vein diameter.Clinical symptoms and complications are significantly increased in cirrhosis patients with PVT. D-dimmer and portal vein diameter are independent risk factors for cirrhosis patients with PVT.
