Objective: To investigate miRNA-21 gene in Xinjiang Han and Kazakh esophageal cancer tissues and its relationship with clinical pathological factors. Methods: using quantitative PCR to detect miRNA-21 in the 50 cases of Han and 50 Kazakh esophageal cancer and adjacent tissues, and to analyze the relationship between miRNA-21 expression and clinicopathological factors. Results:Two groups of patients with esophageal cancer, the relative expression of esophageal carcinoma in Han miRNA-21 was 1.086 ± 0.214, while miR-21 expression matched normal adjacent tissues was 0.716 ±0.278, showed that miRNA-21 in the esophagus cancer tissues was significantly higher than in paired adjacent cancer tissues, the difference was statistically significant(P <0.05);the relative expression of Kazakh esophageal carcinoma miR-21 was 1.068 ± 0.249, and matched adjacent normal tissues miR-21 expression was 0.708 ± 0.264, showed that miR-21 expression levels in Kazakh esophageal cancer tissues was significantly higher than in paired adjacent cancer tissues, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);miRNA-21 in Kazakhstan and Han esophageal cancer tissues was insignificantly difference,there was not statistically significant(P >0.05);the expression of miRNA-21 in Han patients with esophageal carcinoma adjacent tissues and that in Kazakh esophageal carcinoma adjacent tissues was no significant difference, difference was not statistically significant(P> 0.05),showed that there is no significant difference between miRNA-21 expression and ethnic differences. The expression level of miRNA-21 in esophageal carcinoma tissues and differentiation, TNM stage, lymph node metastasis, there is statistically significant(P <0.05), gender, age and tumor location was no significant correlation(P > 0.05). Conclusions:1.Upregulated miRNA-21 level in ESCC is relative with differentiation esophageal carcinoma, lymph node metastasis and TNM staging;2.Detected miRNA-21 could be one of the indicators in screening and early diagnosis of ESCC.
