Objective: To retrospectively analyze the 5 year survival rate of systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE) patients, to study the related factors of the prognosis in these patients, and to know the causes of death of SLE patients in our hospital. Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on 137 newly diagnosed SLE patients who were admitted into our hospital from 2009 to 2012. The clinical features and laboratory results were collected, and all patients were followed up through outpatients service and telephone. Survival rate of SLE patients over time was studied by the Kaplan-Meier method, and prognostic factors were analyzed by Log-rank or Cox proportional hazards models. Results: The first clinical manifestations were rash, arthritis and fever in137 newly treated SLE patients. The1-year, 3-year and 5-year survival rate was 98.5%, 94.8%, 92.0%, respectively. Infection and renal failure were main causes of death, followed by regression of neuropsychiatric systemic lupus erythematosus(NPSLE) and multiple organ failure. Cox regression analysis showed that lupus nephritis, NPSLE and pulmonary lupus damage at the diagnosis were independent risk factors for mortality. However, the other factors, such as gender, ethnic, blood system damage, heart damage, immunosuppressant therapy, serum immunological index level, there were no strong association with survival. Conclusion: The earliest and the main clinical manifestations were arthritis and skin manifestations in SLE patients; The 5-year survival rate of SLE patients was 92% in our hospital; Early diagnosis, control of SLE organ damage and infection prevention are critical to improve the survival of SLE patients. |
