Flax seed oil is the highest level of n-3 fatty acids in vegetable oil currently, and it is also rich in alpha linolenic acid and some functional components such as vitamin, lignan, dietary fiber and so on. Alpha linolenic acid is an essential fatty acid of human body and it is playing a special role on nutrition in the body. The physiological function of alpha linolenic acid is the principal component to constitute the cell membrane as well as synthesis prostaglandin. In addition to this, it can participate in cholesterol metabolism and it has an important effect on regulation of lipoprotein balance, lowering blood lipid, antihrombotic, improving immunity and so on. This experiment study the effect of flax seed oil on rats’ antioxidant and the function of auxiliary lowering blood glucose on diabetic rats. Above research provide a theoretical basis for the mechanism of reducing blood sugar and development research on the health care products of flax seed oil. Objective: Discuss the antioxidation and the influence of fasting blood glucose and glucose tolerance in diabetic rats model of flax seed oil. Methods: 1. The antioxidant effect: SD rats were randomly divided into four groups, namely the peanut oil in the control group(n = 8),Three dose groups of flax seed oil in high, medium and low.(n = 9), lavage 30 days continuously, detect of malondialdehyde(MDA), superoxide dismutase(SOD) and reduced glutathione(GSH) in serum with eyeball blood taking.2. Reducing blood sugar function: establish of hyperlipidemia model in SD male rats fed with high fat diet; the diabetes model is set up by injecting 40 mg/kg urea rhzomorph constantly on hyperlipidemia model rats); Rats were divided into model control group, and flax seed oil in low, medium and high dose groups(eight rats in each group), determine the fasting blood glucose and glucose tolerance in rats after continuous lavage of 30 days. Results: 1. The rats in each dose group of flax seed oil showed that the MDA content in serum were lower than that in control group, and there is statistically significant difference between medium dose group and control group in the content of MDA.(P < 0.05).2. The GSH content in serum of rats in each dose group were higher than that of control group, and there is statistically significant difference(P < 0.05).3. The rats’ serum SOD content in each dose group were higher than that of control group, among them, there was statistically significant between medium does group, high does group and control group on the difference content of SOD.(P < 0.05).4. High dose of flax seed oil group can reduce the fasting glucose of diabetic rats, and there was a significant difference compared with model control group(P < 0.05).5. The blood sugar levels in high dose group of rats were significantly lower than that of model contro l group when given glucose at 0h and 0.5h and there was no significant difference between each dose group rats’ blood glucose value after 2 h.(P > 0.05).6. High dose group of rats blood glucose area under curve model was significantly lower than that o f control group(P < 0.05).Conclusion: 1. Flax seed oil can decrease the content of the oxidation product just like MDA, at the same time, it can improve the content of antioxidant content such as SOD and GSH, and flax seed oil has obvious effect of antioxidation.2. The flax seed oil has the function of auxiliary reducing blood glucose of diabetic rats.
