OBJECTIVE:TO compare the perioperative and postoperative outcomes of single-incision and three-incision thoracoscopic RUL lobectomy and discus the application of these two approaches in Minimally invasive treatment of lung cancer.METHODS: From January 2013 to December 2014, a total of 30 patients underwent thoracoscopic RUL lobectomy via a single-incision(12) or three-incision(18) technique. The operative time, intraoperative blood loss, numbers of Lymph nodes dissected, total postoperative drainage amount and time, length of hospital stay and other outcomes were compared between two groups.RESULTS: The outcomes of operating time, intraoperative blood loss, numbers of Lymph nodes dissected, total postoperative drainage amount and time were not significantly different between the 2 groups.CONCLUSIONS: This research reveals that the perioperative and postoperative outcomes of single-incision thoracoscopic RUL lobectomy were equal with the outcomes of three-incision approach. Also Single-incision approach was not associated with longer operative time or less numbers of lymph nodes. The number of cases included in this research is relatively small, more cases should be accumulated for a further analysis.More clinical researches are needed to study the feasibility of single-incision thoracoscopic lobectomy and segmentectomy. In clinical practice these two approaches should be selected flexibly for patients with lung cancer, in order to promote the popularization and development of minimally invasive treatment for lung cancer.
