Matastasis is the material cause for failure in treatment of patients with castration resistant prostate cancer (CRPC),and first of all tumor cells have to enter into circulation. The study of circulation tumor cells (CTCs) has become active area of research recently, because peripheral blood is easy to collect, and tumor cells could reflect the characteristics of individual disease. A series of clinical trials have shown that the baseline CTC enumeration and treatment-related changes in CTC counts were the independent prognostic factors of overall survival in CRPC patients, and could predict the value of new therapeutic strategies. All these might make CTCs a practical and promising clinical indicator of CRPC in the future. |
