Objective:Analysis the safety and clinical effectiveness of high intensity focused ultrasound in treatment for hepatic echinococcosis, evaluate the therapeutic value of HIFU to guide the clinical practice. Methods:The clinical data of 8 patients with hepatic echinococcosis from 2008 to 2010 in the HIFU treatment center of this hospital were analyzed retrospectively. Comparing the symptoms, imaging results around HIFU treatment and pay attention to the follow-up results to evaluate the effect of HIFU treatment. Analysis the postoperative liver area pain, fever, skin burn and other complications and evaluate the safety of HIFU treatment. Results:All the clinical manifestations and imaging manifestations of these 8 patients were improved after HIFU treatment. Postoperative patients showed liver function injury and returned to normal within a short time.3 cases showed low-grade fever,6 cases appeared pain in liver area,3 cases had slight skin swelling, but all these complications all disappeared in a short time and had no special complications. One patient had second HIFU treatment because of hepatic echinococcosis recurrence then has great efficacy, others have no hepatic echinococcosis recurrence. Conclusion:From the limited data initially shows that it is a safe and effective method of HIFU in treatment for hepatic echinococcosis, it is less invasive and postoperative complications. It is worthwhile for spreading in clinical practice.
