Heart failure can be defined as a complex clinical syndrome that can result from abnormality of cardiac structure or function that impairs the ability of the ventricle to fill with or eject blood. Diuretics play an important role in heart failure therapy. The rational use of diuretics is one of the key factors for other medicines to treat heart failure successfully. In recent years, researches about treating heart failure with diuretics are constantly emerging, especially about loop diuretics torasemide, aldosterone receptor antagonists, potassium-sparing diuretics tolvaptan. In this paper, we review its research progress.
