Objective: To study the correlation between thyroid function and the prevalence of retinopathy in type 2 diabetes, which may provide new clinical clues for early prevention and treatment of thyroid disease in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods: Clinical data was from 2896 inpatients with type 2 diabetes who visited endocrinology department of 2nd Affiliated Hospital of Jilin University from January in 2014 to December in 2015. The clinical and laboratory examination results(include FT3, FT4, TSH, blood pressure, dyslipidemia,Hb A1 c and diabetic retinopathy)of these subjects were collected and analyzed retrospectively.Patients were classified into 5 groups according to thyroid function:T1(subclinical hyperthyroidism group) TSH < 0.51 m Iu/L(n = 77);T2(low-normal value group) TSH 0.51 ~ 4.94 m IU/L(n=2524); T3(subclinical hypothyroidism group) TSH > m Iu / 4.94 L(n = 157);T4(hyperthyroidism group)(n= 67); T5(hypothyroidism group)(n= 71).All the data were analyzed by SPSS20.0 for statistical analysis. P < 0.05 showed statistically significant. Results: No significant difference in gender was found between groups.Patients with DR had higher Hb A1 c,a higher portion of high blood pressure, dyslipidemia and abnormality of thyroid function. After multivariate logistic regression analysis,Hb A1 c,high blood pressure, dyslipidemia and thyroid function remained significantly associated with DR.Conclusion: Hb A1 c,high blood pressure, dyslipidemia and thyroid function were significantly associated with DR.No significant difference in gender between DR and non-DR patients. The prevalence of DR was significantly higher in the portion of abnormality of thyroid function than the euthyroid group.Identifying and treating abnormality of thyroid function might reduce DR risk.Future clinical studies are needed to confirm the findings.
