Background:3D technique is a new technology developed in recent years, it has been widely used in people’s life, such as movies, games, education, architecture, medical, etc. We are not unfamiliar with the medical application such as 3D visual technique and 3D printing technology,3D visual technology has been favored by the majority of medical workers because of its high-definition stereoscopic 3D operative field and accurate space location advantages. With the application of 3D visual technology in the microscope, this technology can make surgeons to look at the screen without staring at the eyepiece. It also can alleviate the discomfort of surgeons that is caused by the eyepiece of fixed position. This technology has been reported in the application of department of Ophthalmology, but it has not been reported in China. Aim:To investigate the clinical effect of 3D visual technique in phacoemulsification. Method:Between April 2015 and October 2015, 56 eye operations of 54 patients who underwent phacoemulsification for cataract surgery in our hospital were studied. All operations were performed by the same doctor. 54 cases of patients were randomly divided into 3D group and control group.Patients in 3D group underwent phacoemulsification by using the 3D visual technique while the patients in control group underwent the same operation through binocular microscope. Doctor chose the infinity of ultrasound emulsification instrument which is a production of Alcon company for these operations. There were 30 eyes of 30 cases in 3D group and 26 eyes of 24 cases in control group. The patients were followed up for 3 months.During the operation, the time of phacoemulsification and the ultrasonic energy were recorded. The indexes such as intraocular pressure, best cottected visual acuity, number of corneal endothelial cell, central corneal thickness, corneal astigmatism and the complications were observed.Statistical analysis is used for patient information and data. Results:(1)There are 30 eyes of 30 cases in 3D group, including 14 males and 16 females, There are 10 eyes of grade II nuclear density and 20 eyes of grade III ~ IV nucleus density, age is from 47 years to 79 years, average age is 68.77± 9.63 years. The control group has 26 eyes of 24 cases, including 8 males and 16 females, There are 7 eyes of grade II nuclear density and 19 eyes of grade III ~ IV nucleus density, age is from 52 years to 87 years, average age is 71.08±7.4 years.(2) Operations were all successfully completed. All the patients in the 3D group were performed through 3D visual technique without turning to the binocular microscope, No complication occurred during intraoperative and postoperative.(3) Data were collected 1 week and 1 month after operation, the mean endothelial corneal cell counts in 3D group were 1969.98±640.65/mm2、1894.10±596.52/ mm2,and the control group were 1706.60±553.98/mm2、1728.86±640.54/ mm2, there were not statistically different between the 3D group and the control group(P>0.05).(4)For grade II nuclear density in 3D group, mean ultrasound times were 16.61±5.17 seconds, mean cumulative dissipated energies were(4.19±1.15)%; For grade III ~ IV nuclear density in 3D group, mean ultrasound times were 37.23±13.45 seconds, mean cumulative dissipated energies were(11.47±4.88)%,whereas there were not statistically different between the 3D group and the control group(P>0.05).(5) Data of number of after operation and intraocular pressure, best cottected visual acuity, central corneal thickness, corneal astigmatism gathered from 1day,1week,1month,3months after operation were compared between the two groups of patients. However the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05). Conclusion:1. 3D visual technique can provide people with higher definition and strong sense of three-dimensional image, it has a good advantage in the identification, location or distance of objects, it also enables the surgeon to accurately identify the level of inter organ tissue.2. 3D visual technique has made something different,It alters the fixed body posture in previous operation. It offers surgeons more physical posture and reduces pressure of the cervical spine, it also can protect the health of the surgeon.3. 3D visual technique is safe and feasible in phacoemulsification.
