Objective:To analyze the relationship between the different levels of thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH) after resection of differentiated thyroid cancer(DTC) and the motion status in the elder subjects. Methods:The levels of serum free triiodothyronine(FT3), free thyroxine(FT4) and TSH were measured from 165 elder subjects who joined in the research. The 117 of these subjects were selected and distributed into three groups, which based on the levels of serum TSH after the DTC resection such as completely suppressive group(CSG), partially suppressive group(PSG) and without suppressive group(WSG). The other 48 subjects with normal levels of serum TSH were distributed into the normal control group(NCG). And the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale(HAMA) and Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD) were used to evaluate the emotion. Results:The study found dramatic difference in the total scores of HAMA between the CSG and other groups, such as PSG(P<0.05), WSG(P < 0.01) and NCG(P < 0.01). Nevertheless, there was no significant difference which revealed by comparing the result of the total scores of HAMD among each other groups in this study. And the levels of FT4 and TSH were associated with the HAMA scores(P<0.05) in CSG.Condusion:Although the elder patients in CSG were more anxiety than other groups, there were no significant difference among the PSG, WSG and NCG. Simultaneously, the coherence between the degree of anxiety and thyriod dysfunction was confirmed in the CSG. Adjusting the levels of TSH in elder patients after DTC resection properly will contribute to relieve the disorder of anxiety.
