| Objectives:To collect all study at home and abroad about electro-acupuncture treatment of migraine with syndrome randomized controlled in English and Chinese RCT or Q-RCT. Use the method of evidence-based medicine, to evaluate acupuncture treatment of primary efficacy and safety of migraine with excess syndrome systematically, so as to provide evidence for acupuncture treatment of migraine with excess syndrome in the clinical application.Materials and Methods:Strict inclusion and exclusion criteria, comprehensively search Chinese Biological Medical Database(CBM), Chinese Journal Full-text Database(CNKI), VIP Chinese Science and Technology Periodical Database, Wan-Fang Database, The Cochrane Library, PubMed,Excerpt Medica Database(EMBASE). We manually search "Chinese Acupuncture" and other journals in library, and http://www.controlled-trials.com;http://www.clinical trials for supplement. All articles were fetched and evaluated by two researchers independently. And analysis was by third-party.Using total effective rate and pain VAS score as indicators of the efficacy of acupuncture treatment for migraine. Statistical analysis provided by Cochrane Collaboration RevMan 5.2 software to count data, calculate the odds ratio(OR),measure data mean difference (MD) or standardized mean difference(SMD),using 95% confidence interval.Results:1.Totally 614 articles were retrieved,Ultimately 18 of which met the inclusion criteria, including 17 Chinese literatures and 1 English literature.2266 subjects were included,683 males and 1583 females. All subjects were between 18-60 years old. Disease course are between 1 week and 30 years.2.Main results for Meta analysis:(1)overall efficiency:electro-acupuncture was be tter than control (OR=3.44,95%CI=[2.72,4.35]). Subgroup analysis results: ①Electro-acupuncture was better than western medicine (OR=3.37,95%CI=[2. 41,4.70]).②Electro-acupuncture was better than ordinary acupuncture(OR=3.0 6,95%CI=[1.82,5.15]).③Electro-acupuncture combined with other therapies was better than only western medicine(OR=4.06,95%CI=[2.72,6.05]).(2)VAS r-ating: ①Electro-acupuncture was better than western medicine (MD=-0.51, 95%CI=[-0.62,-0.40]).②Electro-acupuncture was better than ordinary acupunc ture(MD=-0.60,95%CI=[-0.97,-0.23]),but the result had larger heterogeneity, the results needed to be cautious.③Electro-acupuncture combined with other therapies was better than only western medicine(MD=-2.10, 95%CI=[-3.94,-0.27].3.Secondary results:(1)Effective rating of following-up visit:Electro-acupuncture or electro-acupuncture combined with other therapies was better than western medicine, electro-acupuncture was better than ordinary acupuncture. (2)The number of migraine attacking:electro-acupuncture combined with other therapies was better than western medicine, cannot prove that electric acupuncture was better than ordinary acupuncture. (3) Time of migraine attacking:electro-acupuncture was better than ordinary acupuncture, the result had larger heterogeneity about electro-acupuncture compared with western medicine,so cannot prove that electric acupuncture was better than western medicine. (4)Adverse reaction:electric acupuncture or electro-acupuncture combined with other therapies was safe and had less adverse events.Conclusion:1.Current evidence suggests that, in terms of short-term effects, electro-acupuncture reduces frequency, severity, duration of migraine.2.Four of retrieved articles reported safety of electro-acupuncture treatment. There’s no adverse effect of the electro-acupuncture treatment reported. Some patients have faint during acupuncture that can be spontaneously recovered. Electro-acupuncture treatment is safe and has less adverse events.3.Electro-acupuncture can assist to improve long-term treatment effects of migraine. It reduces drug dependency, improves life quality and psychological health. But electro-acupuncture treatments for migraine needs more high-quality of evidences to confirm. |
