Objective:To understand the situation of child death from 0-4 years in Changchun City from 2011 to 2013, to analyze the different between urban and rural, genders, ages,and the cause of death of all ages, to find the status of death cause sequence to explore the condition of children accepting health care before death, therefore to provide the theoretical basis for the development of child health.Methods:The death surveillance data of children aged 0-4 years old in Changchun city from 2011 to 2013 was used and we collected, sorted, analyze the data. Descriptive statistic methods were used to analyze the he main sequence of the current situation,cause of death, and the age constituent ratio.Use the c2 test to analyze child mortality imparity between gender, urban and rural groups. Then to analyze the corresponding change trend from 2011-2013.Results:1. The death rates 0f children aged 0 to 4 have dropped from 6.09 per thousand to 5.30 per thousand from 2011 to 2013 in Changchun. Neonatal mortality has dropped from 3.49 per thousand to 3.02 per thousand from 2011 to 2013 in Changchun. Infant mortality has dropped from 4.39 per thousand in 2011 to 4.05 per thousand in 2013 in Changchun. All age mortalities were at the low levels.2. The constituent of mortality from 0-4 years old: including infant death(76.34%), neonatal death(56.99%) and children death(23.66%) aged 1 to 4 years old.So you can see that the constituent ratio of infant death was the most high in child deaths aged 0 to 4 years old, and the constituent ratio of neonatal death was the most high in infant death. Reducing infant mortality especially newborns is the key to reduce child mortality.3. The male mortality of child aged 0 to 4 years old from 2011-2013 was 5.37‰,higher than the girls. In addition, the rates of infant mortality and neonatal mortality of boys were higher than girls. By the statistical tests, all does not have significant difference. Cases of neonatal and infant death in urban from 2011 to 2013 were 45, 66 respectively, lower than the countryside.4. The leading causes of death in children aged 0 to 4 from 2011-2013 were preterm delivery and so on. Birth asphyxia is advanced by a third in 2011 to the first,having become a primary cause of death in children.5. The proportion of no treatment before children died in from 2011-2013 was15.05%, showed a trend of decline. The proportion of no treatment in urban was13.64%, which was less than the rural.Conclusion:1. The neonatal, infant and children aged 0 to 4 years old mortality was on the low level and had a tendency of decline from 2011 to 2013 in Changchun city.2. There was no statistically significant difference of child mortality rates between urban and rural areas and genders.3. Infant deaths accounted for 76.34% of deaths children 0 to 4. We need more attention to reduce the infant mortality to decrease the children mortality aged 0 to 4years old, especially the neonatal mortality.4. The birth asphyxia is the leading cause of death in all ages which should cause the social attention.5. The proportion of no treatment before death reduced year by year, but by 2013 there has still 15.05% of the untreated children before died. The proportion of children died in a hospital is higher, but there are still some children die in the way or home.
