Objective:To explore influencing factors affecting the efficiency of uterine fibroid treated with ultrasound-guided high intensity focused ultrasound. Methods:To retrospectively analyze the data of 196 uterine fibroids in 94 females who underwent HIFU treatment from January 2013 to December 2014 in HIFU treatment center of the first affiliated hospital of Chongqing Medical University. The age, abdominal wall thickness of patients and locations, types mean diameter, blood flow and MRI T2WI signal intensity of uterine fibroid were assessed before HIFU treatment, and non-purfused volume ratio (NPVR) of all fibroids was worked out with the MRI pictures after HIFU treatment. All 196 fibroids were grouped by different factors mentioned respectively, then analyze all the data acquired to figure out how the factors affect the effectiveness of uterine fibroid treated with HIFU.Results:In 196 fibroids,166(84.7%) were treated sufficiently (NPVR≥70%). Univariate analysis revealed that curative effect of fibroids in front wall was better than the ones in back wall of uterine with significant difference(P< 0.05).The curative effect of fibroids with mean diameter≥5cm is better than <5cm(P<0.05). And the curative effect had significant difference among fibroids with different blood flow or different MRI T2WI signal intensity (P <0.05). However, the age, abdominal wall thickness of patients and types of uterine fibroid were irrelevant with the efficiency of HIFU treatment. Conclusions:The locations, mean diameter, blood flow and MRI T2WI signal of fibroids are relevant with the efficiency of HIFU treatment. With the results above, we can predict the efficiency of HIFU applied in the treatment of uterine fibroids. And we can also improve the efficiency of HIFU treatment by intervening the influencing factors.
