Abstract/Summary:
Objective:Epstein-barr virus infection is very common in crowd, after which usually remains the latent infections status. When the host immune function decline, EBV could be activated again, and could lead to many diseases. There is no effective vaccine can prevent the infection so far. EB virus infection can result in infectious mononucleosis(IM), hemophagocytic syndrome, chronic active Epstein-barr virus infection(CAEBV), X-linked lymphoid tissue proliferative disease(XLP), nasopharyngeal carcinoma and lymphoma and other diseases. The infection and incidence rate are significantly different in age groups and distribution. Among MSM population is HIV infection of high-risk groups, in which the HIV infection rate is more than 15%. In HTV/AIDS, because of the immune dysfunction, it can cause the activation and proliferation B lymphocytes in latent infection of EB virus again, thus increase the incidence of EB virus related diseases. Both there is few epidemiological survey about EB virus infection among MSM crowd at home and abroad. In this paper is going to do a reserch in seroepidemiology of Epstein-barr virus infection among adult male homosexuality(MSM) in chongqing, and comparing with healthy people and people living with HIV, and to understand the present situation of the EB virus infection among MSM crowd and compare the proportion of EBV reactivation among MSM with EBV/HIV co-infection to provide reference for prevention and treatment of EB virus infection among MSM populations. Methods:All the 1082 cases MSM received in Chongqing and were divided into 2 groups, the 130 HIV-infected group and 952 cases non HIV-infected group.1059 cases healthy individuals is as control group with the same sex. Enzyme-linked immune sorbent assay(ELISA) technique was used for determination of EBV-CA IgG, EBV-NA IgG, EBV-CA IgM in obtained serum samples.Results:(1) The EBV past infection rate of MSM is 92.35%(1002/1082), HIV-infected group and non HIV-infected group was 88.46%(115/130), 93.17%(884/952), respectively. The EBV past infection rate of non HIV-infected was higher than 952 cases of healthy adult males (89.89%),and the difference was statistically significant(p<0.05)(2) The non EBV-infected rate of MSM, HIV-infected group, non HIV-infected group was 0.49%(5/1082),0.77%(1/130),0.42%(4/952), respectively. All the three groups were significantly lower than healthy adult males 5.00%(53/1059) (p<0.05).There was no statistical difference between the HIV-infected and non HIV-infected group in non EBV-infected rate (p>0.05)(3) The EBV reactivation rate of MSM、HIV-infected group、non HIV-infected group was 4.81%(52/1082),10.00%(13/130),4.10% (39/952), respectively, of which only HIV-infected group was significantly higher than health adult males 3.77%(40/1056) (p<0.05).There was statistical difference between HIV-infected and non HIV-infected group in EBV reactivation rate (p<0.05)Conclusion:(1) EBV past infection in MSM was similar to the general population, but non infected rate was lower than the healthy adult males’s.(2) HIV and EBV had positive correlation. The replication of EBV increased in HIV-infected group and reactivation rate significantly increased. We supposed that it associated with the transmission way of EBV and immunodeficiency in HIV infection.
