Objective:Discussion about whether endometrial polyps and endometrial polyp resection affect pregnancy rates of infertility by meta-analysis, intended to take routine hysteroscopy in infertility patients which can discover endometrial lesions and improve the pregnancy rate. Methods:The Cochrane Central Register of Controller Trails(CENTRAL)、EMB、ASE、PubMed、China National Internet (CNKI) were searched. The outcome was analysed by software Revman 5.3. Odds ratio (OR) with 95%confidence interval (CI) was calculated. Results:Six studies presenting seven results were included. Three studies with a total of 6094 participants were about whether endometrial polyp (EP) in patients with infertility has an effect on pregnancy rate. There were 454 EP cases, in which 111 cases were pregnant and the rate was 24.45%(111/454). A total of 5595 cases had non-EP, in which 1706 cases were conceived, the pregnancy rate was 30.49%(1706/5595), respectively. A fixed-effects model meta-analysis showed that EP was associated with a increased risk of pregnancy rate in patients with infertility (OR 1.28,95%CI [1.01,1.61], P= 0.04) with no heterogeneity among the studies (I2=0%; p=0.45). Four studies on whether polypectomy affect pregnancy rate in infertility. A total of 222 cases of the treatment group, among which 114 cases of pregnancy and the rate was 51.35% (114/222).227 cases were in the control group, there were 60 cases of pregnancy and the rate was 26.43%(60/227). A fixed-effects model meta-analysis showed that polypectomy was associated with a increased risk of pregnancy rate in infertility patients (OR 2.78,95%CI [1.85,4.16], P<0.000001) with moderate heterogeneity among the studies (I2=63%; p=0.05).Conclusions:Endometrial polyp is one of important factors leading to infertility. Infertility patients need to do routine hysteroscopy, in order to exclude endometrial polyp. Once EP was diagnosed, surgical treatment should be intervened to improve the pregnancy rate.
