| Objective: To compare the effect of Pirarubicin(THP) and Epirubicin(EPI) to prevent the postoperative recurrence of the superficial bladder cancer by bladder instillation after operation. Methods: 40 Patients with superficial bladder cancer after transurethral resection of bladder tumors(TURBt) operation were divided into two groups randomly. Pirarubicin(THP) by bladder instillation was used in the first group(21 patients), Epirubicin(EPI) was used in the second group(19 patients). After TURBt operation(Operated by the same surgeon), bladder instillation was performed on all patients regularly. Then the tumor postoperative recurrent rates were compared among the two groups, and the chemotherapeutic effects were observed. Results: All patients were followed up for 12 months. The bladder cancer postoperative recurrent rates in the Pirarubicin(THP) group and Epirubicin(EPI) group were 14.29%(3/21) and 26.32%(5/19) respectively, without any significant difference observed(P>0.05). The side effect rates by bladder instillation were 61.90% for the Pirarubicin(THP) group and 52.63% for the Epirubicin(EPI) group, without any significant difference observed too(P>0.05).Conclusions: The Pirarubicin(THP) and Epirubicin(EPI) had substantially the same effect to prevent the postoperative recurrence of the superficial bladder cancer after TURBt operation, the side effect rates of the both drugs by bladder instillation was substantially the same too, so both of them can be used as an ideal chemotherapy drugs to prevent the postoperative recurrence of the superficial bladder cancer after operation. |
